I don’t know, maybe it is that I am growing old, but this photo of a Syrian child that was swept ashore trying to reach safety really affected me. I cannot let loose and put it out of my mind like I once could. Migration is the world’s number one problem. We as Mexicans should know better but we ignore what PRI is doing to Mexico. During the Spanish Civil war and even the Chilean conflict Mexico was the number one recipient of refugees. Today it not only kills its own children but turns away thousands of Central American refugees that just want to travel to the United States to escape the hunger and violence caused by U.S. policies. At the root is the New Order of Neoliberalism. Just like these refugees, the little boy in the photo is a casualty of human greed.
